Alice Auer has dropped a fantastic new single in the form of ‘I Feel Sad’. The track focuses on the idea of grief and the confusion that comes with it. Musically, she reflects this with a simplistic approach that places her jazz-inflected voice above simple, warm piano chords that let her lyrics shine. “I started writing this song one afternoon after feeling frustrated about not being able to come up with any lyrics to describe the grief I was feeling after losing my auntie,” she explains, on the inspiration behind the track. “I thought to myself, how do I feel… and that was - just sad, that was the overwhelming feeling, which may sound obvious, but grief is just strange and hits in confusing ways.” Her new EP, Baby Cry, is out today and contains three more excellent tracks. -Dan Peeke
